The e-road bike that weighs under 10 kg and changes the rules, this is the BMC Teammachine 01 AMP
Dropping below 10 kg on an e-road bike seemed incompatible with maintaining a competitive feel. The Teammachine 01 AMP arrives to demonstrate that this balance is starting to become possible.
A different e-road, BMC Teammachine 01 AMP with less than 10 kg and 200 W integrated
BMC approached the development of this BMC Teammachine 01 AMP from a fundamental principle. More power is useless if the additional weight negates its advantages. That’s why the entire platform has been designed as a whole, not as a bike adapted afterwards.

The frame uses 01 Premium carbon with a construction focused on maintaining high levels of stiffness without increasing weight. The shapes and profiles replicate those of the SLR 01, allowing for aerodynamic efficiency and power transfer to be preserved.

Additionally, the motor integration system distributes loads across the frame to avoid stiffness losses, maintaining a behavior similar to that of a racing bike.
TQ HPR40 Motor, less maximum power but more natural feel
The electrical system is based on the TQ HPR40 motor with 200 W and 40 Nm. It does not aim for high figures, but rather for progressive assistance that is coherent with the pedaling.

One of the key points is the almost total absence of resistance when exceeding the assistance limit. Above 25 km/h, the system does not introduce friction, allowing for a ride like that of a conventional bike.
The operation relies on Harmonic Pin Ring technology, which reduces size, noise, and mechanical losses. BMC has also adjusted the software with three assistance modes that vary the motor response and the percentage of assistance.
Great autonomy and fully integrated battery
The internal battery is 290 Wh and is completely integrated into the frame, with the option to add an external battery of 160 Wh.

The estimated usage figures for an 80 kg cyclist are:
- Up to 130 km and 2,000 m in Eco mode
- 100 km and 1,700 m in intermediate mode
- 80 km and 1,200 m in maximum mode
With the external battery, distances of up to 200 km and more than 3,000 m of elevation gain can be achieved.
The approach is more oriented towards expanding the range of use of a road bike than replacing a conventional e-bike.
Geometry and behavior
The geometry maintains a racing focus, but introduces a stack that is 20 mm higher compared to the Pro Race Geometry, while keeping the same reach. This allows for a more sustainable position without losing precision in direction.

It accommodates tires up to 34 mm, which improves comfort and control on descents. This is complemented by the Tuned Compliance Concept system, which provides vertical flex without compromising lateral stiffness.
Total system integration
The electrical system is completely integrated. The motor, battery, display, and lighting function as a single unit.

The battery also powers the Shimano Di2 group and the rear light, simplifying usage. Through the TQ Smartbox, the buttons on the levers allow for changing assistance modes.
The integrated OLED display offers Bluetooth and ANT+ connectivity, facilitating data management.
BMC Teammachine 01 AMP: models and prices
The range is structured into three builds that share the frame and electrical system, but vary in transmission level and weight, starting with Shimano 105 Di2 and going up to Dura-Ace Di2, with prices ranging from €7,999 to €13,499. The differences between models focus more on the equipment than on the technical base, which is common across the entire platform.

The Teammachine 01 AMP does not aim to be the most powerful e-road bike or the one with the most autonomy. Its focus is to minimize the differences with a conventional road bike. If this approach consolidates, it could set a clear trend in the segment. Less dependence on raw power and more attention to integration, weight, and real sensations on the bike.
