Several weeks ago, images were leaked of what could be the development of a gravel fork born from the collaboration between Canyon and DT Swiss. Now, a post by Freddy Owett, a Canyon gravel cyclist, before competing in The Traka, confirms not only the existence of this fork but also that it will be used in a competition like The Traka, and that its development is in its final stages.
Canyon and DT Swiss finalize the development of their gravel fork
The photos of the bike that Freddy Owett will compete with this weekend in The Traka confirm not only that Canyon and DT Swiss were developing a competition fork for this modality, but also, as can be inferred from the social media post, it seems to be a pre-series that indicates that the launch for sale would be imminent.
A fork that follows the design lines of other models created by DT Swiss such as the placement of the arch that connects the stanchions at the back, a solution that provides more rigidity to the set as well as the use of 30mm bars.
The travel could be around 40mm. An estimate based on the amount of exposed bars and the usual line in gravel forks, and at the same time, it is about refining the weight to the maximum by narrowing the lower part of the stanchions where you can clearly read "Canyon Enginereed by DT Swiss".
Other details that stand out are the integrated top caps, with the left one also serving as a guide for the brake hose that runs completely through the back of the fork coming out from inside the steerer tube. Caps that, on the other hand, prevent seeing how Canyon may have solved the suspension lockout aspect since no remote control or lever that activates it is visible.
