Pogacar will not be at the Olympics
The recently crowned Tour de France winner will not participate in the Paris Olympics. This has been announced by the Slovenian press citing official sources that mention accumulated fatigue from the Tour. However, everything points to this being a way for him to protest against his Federation.
Tadej Pogacar will not be at the Paris 2024 Olympics
Alongside the World Championship, and after deciding not to participate in La Vuelta, the Paris Olympics were the next important goal for Tadej Pogacar after winning the Giro and Tour in impeccable form. However, the Slovenian Press Agency announced a few hours ago that their star cyclist will not attend Paris in order to dedicate more time to recovery and preparation for the World Championship on September 29th in Zurich.

As mentioned, that is the official version, but the truth is that Pogacar's absence could be motivated by his Federation's decision to exclude Urka Zigart, Tadej's partner and current national champion in road and time trial, from the Olympic squad. This snub by the three-time Tour winner could be his way of protesting against a situation he himself deemed unfair a few weeks ago.
