Tadej Pogacar seeks to repeat his performance from last year at the Strade Bianche 2025
The classics season continues next Saturday, March 8th, with the jump to Italian lands to dispute what the organizers of the Strade Bianche themselves call "the northern classic furthest south in Europe". A race that in this 2025 consolidates the extended route up to 215 km from the previous edition and that resulted in one of the most brutal exhibitions of the year by, of course, Tadej Pogacar.
Pidcock and Van Gils will try to defeat an untouchable Pogacar in the Strade Bianche 2025
Luxury participation in the Strade Bianche, a race that continues to grow and attract the attention of the peloton every passing year. And it is that the sterrato classic is a test that is within reach of a varied style of cyclists although, with him on the list of cyclists who will start, the question will be whether anyone will be able to cast a shadow on him.

We are talking, of course, about Tadej Pogacar, who begins his spring focused on the classics after the competitive contact that the UAE Tour represented for him, which he won with absolute ease with the extra of two partial victories in two stages with uphill finishes. If we also remember his tremendous performance from last year, with a monumental attack 80 kilometers from the conclusion, the favorite for victory can only be one, the best cyclist of today.
Not content with this, in the hypothetical case that the Slovenian were to fail, UAE Team Emirates-XRG has other good bullets in the chamber that could triumph in this test based on how they have started the year. We are talking about men like Tim Wellens or Isaac del Toro.
In any case, his rivals will not easily give up, among whom we must highlight a totally motivated and fit Tom Pidcock, who has benefited greatly from the change of scenery to join Q36.5.
We also cannot forget another protagonist of the Vuelta a Andalucía like Maxim Van Gils, who will be supported by cyclists like Roger Adrià or Jan Tratnik in Red Bull-BORA-hansgrohe.
In a secondary role, we find a good series of cyclists who could be at the front depending on the race circumstances. We are talking about men like Magnus Cort who has excelled in O Gran Camiño, but without being able to finish off in the general classification where he had to settle for the third step; or a Michal Kwiatkowski who showed to be in fantastic form in the Clásica de Jaén.
Strade Bianche 2025 Route
The Strade Bianche repeats the route premiered last year in which the distance has been stretched beyond 200 kilometers in a quest to make the race more selective. And it does so by repeating the formula of the final circuit in which the dirt sections of Colle Pinzuto and Le Tolfe are passed twice.
Before that, the cyclists will have had to overcome another 14 dirt sections through the winding fields of Tuscany, full of small hills and valleys that, without accumulating excessive elevation, leave no room for rest at almost any moment.
Special mention deserves the linking of the San Martino in Grania and the already mythical Monte Santa María sections, two of the longest sectors of the day with the latter becoming the climax point of the race in recent years, including the new route that moves this tough sector away from the finish line.
