Two Strava features to keep motivation high, Fitness and Perceived Effort
Strava is the largest online sports platform in the world, with 50 million users growing at a rate of one million per month, and it has two very interesting features to keep athletes' motivation high: Fitness and Perceived Effort.
Strava incorporates Fitness and Perceived Effort into its application
As an athlete trains, improvements are noticeable after a few weeks, but sometimes it's easy to lose perspective and many feel they are not improving when they actually are. Strava has managed with these new features to allow each athlete to graphically visualize their progress and help them maintain their motivation to continue improving.
The Fitness function is included in the Strava Summit Analysis pack and offers a score that very visually reflects your physical condition month by month up to two years through a graph.

The Perceived Effort function is available to all Strava members who use the app, both for iOS and Android, and allows users to self-assess on a scale of 1 to 10 the intensity of any of their activities (running, cycling, swimming, etc.). This measurement could replace the one obtained by heart rate to track performance over a period of time.

Whether you're an athlete training for a personal record in a marathon or just want to run or cycle several times a week to stay in shape; the new Fitness and Perceived Effort features can be a very good source of motivation», explained long-distance coach and researcher Megan Roche, M.D., winner of several national awards as an ultrarunner in the United States and co-author of the book The Happy Runner.
