SRAM patents a revolutionary sensor integrated in the tire
Once again, patents registering trademarks give us clues as to where companies are working towards the launch of future products. SRAM has been the latest to do so with the registration of a sensor integrated into the rim that would presumably be used to read tire pressure.

SRAM is working on integrating its air pressure sensor into the wheels themselves
In SRAM's catalog, we find an interesting accessory, the Quarq TyreWiz, a device that is placed on the valve threaded on the stem and reads the pressure at which the tires are inflated, transmitting it to the mobile phone or cycling computer.
However, it is a rather bulky device. That is why it is not surprising that SRAM has just filed a patent for a device integrated into the rim that would transfer the functions of the TyreWiz to the rim itself.

However, this new device integrated into the rim seems to want to go further and, as deduced from the content of the patent, it would also seek to provide data on distance traveled, speed, or slope among other information.
Furthermore, placing the sensor on the rim instead of on the stem allows it to be placed on the opposite side of the valve, resulting in better weight balance, meaning the wheel spins more roundly.

However, we remind you that this is only a patent, which does not indicate that this will ultimately result in a new product but rather registers the ideas on which the brand is working to prevent competitors from using the same solution.
