Specialized has invented a bike that aims to replace the car; this is the new S-Works Levo 4 X
Specialized has just presented one of the most unique proposals we have seen in the high-performance e-MTB segment. The new S-Works Levo 4 X takes as its starting point the recently launched Levo 4 and transforms it into a bike capable of combining authentic trail performance with a load capacity typical of an adventure or daily-use bike.

Specialized invents the concept "Electric Overland" with the new S-Works Levo 4 X: an 850 W e-MTB capable of carrying 22 kg without sacrificing trail performance
The American brand does not talk about bikepacking, trekking, or a utility bike. It has created its own concept called "Electric Overland," a philosophy that seeks to unite technical trails, urban commuting, multi-day trips, and equipment transport under one platform. The term Overland is usually used for self-sufficient adventure vehicles that carry everything necessary for the journey.

A Levo 4 ready to carry up to 22 kg
The big news of the Levo 4 X is not in the frame or the electrical system, but in a new front and rear rack set with a pending patent developed specifically for this platform.
The system allows carrying up to 22 kg of total load, distributed between:
- Front rack: 10 kg
- Rear rack: 12 kg
According to Specialized, both elements have been designed to maintain the dynamic behavior of the bike even when loaded.

One of the most interesting aspects is that the front rack does not suspend the load over the suspension in motion, which reduces interference with the fork's operation and helps maintain steering precision when the terrain becomes technical.

Meanwhile, the rear rack is fixed directly to the frame to channel structural loads more efficiently and also incorporates compatibility with the widely used MIK three-pin standard for high-end transport bags and accessories.

Much more than a new bike
Although the star is the S-Works Levo 4 X, Specialized believes that the true scope of this launch goes beyond the new model.
The new racks will also be available as independent accessories and will be compatible with the entire family, that is, with the Levo 4, Levo 4 EVO, and Levo R models.

This means that any owner of a new generation Levo can transform their bike into an adventure machine, transport, or bikepacking without needing to change the frame.
Joe Buckley, Product Manager at Specialized, explains:
"This is bigger than just a single complete bike. Aftermarket racks are compatible with Levo 4 and Levo R, so cyclists can radically expand the capabilities of the bikes they already have."
Retains all the technology of the Levo 4
Unlike other adventure bikes based on simpler platforms, the Levo 4 X retains all the technical architecture of the Levo 4.
The heart of the system remains the new Specialized S-Works 3.1 motor, capable of delivering 850 W of maximum power and 111 Nm of torque.

Figures that place it among the most powerful electric mountain bikes on the market.
The power comes from a 840 Wh integrated battery, although the modular system allows for two additional configurations with an external 280 Wh battery that would give it a total capacity of up to 1,120 Wh. There is also an option for a 600 Wh battery for lighter configurations.
According to the technical sheet, the autonomy can reach up to 4 hours and 40 minutes, depending on usage conditions.
Modern geometry and GENIE suspension for an aggressive e-MTB
The Levo 4 X remains a true trail bike and not an adapted utility bike, as reflected in its measurements:
- Head angle: 64.5°
- Saddle angle: 77°
- Chainstays: 435 mm
- Reach from 435 mm (S2) to 535 mm (S6)
- Wheelbase from 1,200 mm to 1,323 mm
Measurements clearly oriented towards control on fast descents and technical terrain.
The frame uses FACT 11m carbon, the most advanced material from Specialized for mountain bikes, and retains the key elements debuted in the Levo 4.
Among them are:
- 150 mm of rear travel
- FOX 38 Factory GRIP X2 fork with 160 mm
- GENIE rear suspension system with FOX Float X Factory
- SWAT internal storage
- Completely adjustable geometry
- Mullet wheels (29” front and 27.5” rear)
The GENIE suspension seeks to combine initial sensitivity, greater traction, and significantly higher resistance to bottoming out compared to conventional air systems.
The geometry can also be adapted through adjustments to the head angle, bottom bracket height, and wheelbase to suit both aggressive trail routes and multi-day loaded outings.

Top-level transmission and assembly
As befits an S-Works bike, the equipment is at the highest level of the catalog.

Among its components, we find:
- SRAM XX Eagle Transmission T-Type AXS
- SRAM XX Carbon cranks of 160 mm
- SRAM XX Transmission cassette 10-52
- SRAM Maven Ultimate brakes
- SRAM HS2 discs of 220 mm front and 200 mm rear
- RockShox Reverb AXS dropper post
- Roval Traverse HD carbon wheels
- DT Swiss 240 hubs
The set declares a weight of 27.25 kg in size S4, a reasonable figure considering the added load capacity and the enormous 840 Wh battery.
Specialized wants to reduce car use
Beyond the specifications, the presentation makes the brand's strategic objective clear. Specialized positions the Levo 4 X as an alternative to replace everyday car trips without sacrificing the capabilities of a high-performance e-MTB.

The company itself summarizes the idea under a very clear message: a bike for trails, adventures, urban commuting, shopping, trips, and multi-day getaways.
In the words of Rodney Hines, Senior Designer at Specialized: "Electric Overland is less car and more world. More land. More autonomy. More reasons to ride a bike."
Specialized S-Works Levo 4 X: price and availability
The new Specialized S-Works Levo 4 X is now available at a price of 14,499 euros.
The new racks will arrive as independent accessories this summer with the following prices:
- Levo X front rack: 199 €
- Levo X rear rack: 399 €
With this launch, Specialized not only adds a new version to the Levo family. The brand aims to open its own category among high-performance e-MTBs, positioning itself in an intermediate point between a long-travel trail bike, an adventure bike, and a light cargo bike. A proposal that, at least on paper, has few direct rivals in the current market.
