Reaching the final version has meant developing 30 prototypes throughout the season in collaboration with both INEOS Grenadiers and Gobik's technical teams. The brand ensures that each time trial suit has been designed to fit each rider and the project has required a team of five Gobik experts dedicated exclusively to its development.
INEOS Grenadiers is at the forefront of time trial specialty and therefore prioritizes and supports research and continuous development of technology to maintain its position in this space.
In the first time trial of the Giro d'Italia, four of the top five riders were from INEOS Grenadiers and they already used a previous version of the suit, but in the second time trial, Filippo Ganna claimed victory with this latest version.
Among its innovations and improvements are the overlay of various materials and the adjustments of the pattern and proven geometry ensure the optimal placement of each seam and panel, guaranteeing complete customization for each cyclist. The improvements achieved with the Singularity 2.0 range from 2 to 5%, representing a significant advantage in time trial tests.
This is how Scott Drawer, Performance Director of the INEOS Grenadiers team, explained it:
"The innovation process is what defines the INEOS Grenadiers, so finding a partner who shares the same mindset is how we turn those ideas into reality."
"Partnering with Gobik has been a natural fit. Using their expertise and knowledge of technical textiles has allowed us to create something unique that delivers results. True innovation happens when both parties see the challenge and combine their knowledge to come up with something better. This only occurs through regular and thorough communication, true collaboration, and the effort of both teams to achieve excellence."
Meanwhile, Spanish rider Carlos Rodríguez gave his opinion on the importance of technology in this discipline:
"Time trial is a science, and wind tunnel tests are key in the process of achieving the best package for such tests. You can train as much as you want, but if you are not aerodynamic enough, you won't be competitive."
We will see the new Singularity 2.0 in the upcoming stages 7 and 21 of the 2024 Tour de France, you can check out the rest of the stages and schedules here.
