Prior to the race, it was noted that this XCM World Championship held in Snowshoe could be decided among the many XCO cyclists who had decided to participate due to its proximity to the World Cup races in North America. And so it was.
A leading group was quickly formed that would lead the race over its 104 km with 1988 meters of elevation gain. Among the leaders were familiar faces from XCO, such as French rider Victor Koretzky, American rider Chris Blevins, Danish rider Simon Andreassen, and Spanish rider David Valero. Only XCM expert German rider Andreas Seewald was able to catch up to the top positions after Koretzky fell behind.
