The XCO preseason continues to focus on Spain and it's time for a race that is already an institution on the international calendar. For many, the Banyoles event is considered the cathedral of XCO during the early months of the year and this edition will be no exception. On February 25, the best in the discipline will meet at the Shimano Super Cup Massi Banyoles 2024.

The Shimano Super Cup Massi Banyoles 2024 brings together the best of the global XCO

After an impressive start to the Shimano Super Cup Massi in La Nucía, Alicante, with the presence of world champions Tom Pidcock and Pauline Ferrand-Prevot, the second event of the championship arrives in Banyoles.

A test that has been celebrated uninterruptedly for 23 years and has earned it the nickname of the cathedral of mountain biking.

The best in the world meet in Banyoles

The Banyoles event is one of the few in the world with UCI Hors Categorie status, and its points distribution will be highly valued to secure the last Olympic spots for next summer in Paris. This, combined with its prestige, will make the starting line full of stars.

At 10:40, the women's race will begin in all categories, highlighting the elite race with the participation of some of the best in the world, led by world champion Pauline Ferrand-Prevot from the Ineos Grenadier team, current leader of the Shimano Super Cup Massi, after her victory in the first event in La Nucía, Alicante. Alongside her, names like Jolanda Neff and Evie Richards from TREK Factory Racing-Pirelli; Savilia Blunk from Rockrider Ford Racing; Raquel Queirós and Sofia Waite from BH Coloma Team; Anne Tauber from Orbea Factory Team; Sina Frei from Specialized Factory Racing; Marta Cano from Primaflor Mondraker Racing Team or Janika Löiv from KMC Ridley MTB, among others.

At 12:30, it will be the turn of the elite men's category, the list of top riders, as usual in Banyoles, is impressive, some of them are: Peter Sagan and Victor Koretzky from Specialized Factory Racing; Jordan Sarrou from BMC MTB Team; Nadir Colledani from Santacruz Rockshox Pro Team; Vlad Dascalu from TREK Factory Racing Pirelli; David Valero and Jofre Cullell from BH Coloma Team; Thomas Griot and Luca Schwarzbauer from Canyon CLLCTV; Sam Gaze from Alpecin Deceuninck; Antonie Philipp and Maxime Loret from Massi; Luca Martin, Pierre de Froidmont and David Campos from Orbea Factory Team; Ondrej Cink from Primaflor Mondraker Racing Team; Titouan Carod, Janis Baumann and Jordan Sarrou from Team BMC or Jens Schuermans and Carter Woods from Giant Factory Off-Road Team XC.

A grid worthy of a World Cup and it's difficult to predict who will take the final victory.
