SCOTT "puts on hold" the Bold brand: current models will be discounted and there will be no new ones until 2026
In 2019 SCOTT acquired the Swiss brand Bold to the surprise of many. It was a small company but with very particular mountain bikes that integrated their rear shock absorber into the frame. Now, and after rumors of its definitive closure, SCOTT has announced that they will put the brand on hold to try to clear their large stock of bikes.
SCOTT puts the brakes on Bold
What SCOTT actually did in 2019 was to buy the patented technology that Bold had to apply it to their new models, the first one being the Spark. But unlike what was expected, Bold continued as an independent brand that had continued to evolve until now.
But the financial situation of SCOTT Sport is not going through its best moment and that is causing big changes like the one that has occurred in Bold. A few days ago, an internal communication was made public in which Bold informed its distributors that SCOTT would not make any more investments in the brand and that they were stopping their activity. Everything seemed to indicate that they were closing down.

Something that SCOTT wanted to clarify with this new communication:
In response to recent media reports about the future of Bold Cycles, SCOTT Sports makes the following statement:
SCOTT Sports acquired Bold Cycles in 2019 and has since developed, distributed, and marketed the Bold Cycles brand and products worldwide. For the 2024-2025 season, Bold Cycles will not introduce new models to the market, but will focus on the current collection to clear a high inventory. This has no effect on after-sales service, including warranty and customer service inquiries.
In July 2024, Bold founder Vincent Droux will leave the Bold brand. The Bold office in Biel will be relocated to the existing Bold team working at the SCOTT Sports HQ in Givisiez, Switzerland.
"From the start, Bold Cycles has been an important part of the SCOTT Group, bringing new product innovations and a progressive approach to an important mountain bike market segment. As we work together to mitigate short-term inventory issues, we continue to look at how to develop the Bold Cycles brand and product offering in the future."
In summary:
- Vincent Droux, the founder of Bold, will leave the brand
- The Bold offices will move to SCOTT's headquarters
- There will be no new models in 2024 and 2025, at least
- After-sales service, warranty, inquiries, etc. remain fully active and valid
- They will focus on balancing Bold's stock and for this, discounts of up to 40% are mentioned on current models
