ROUVY jumps from the roller to the outdoors and now integrates with Garmin to collect your routes
ROUVY wants to stop being just a platform for rollers. The Czech company has just presented the new Companion App 2.0, an update that aims to connect indoor training much more closely with all the physical activity that cyclists perform outside the home. The big news is the integration with Garmin and the ability to collect data not only from cycling sessions but also from sports like running, swimming, hiking, or strength training.
ROUVY takes a step beyond the roller and connects indoor and outdoor training with Garmin
Just a few weeks ago, we learned about Zwift's acquisition of ROUVY, but to understand that each platform will follow its own path, this news has arrived. The update represents a significant change in the platform's approach. Until now, ROUVY focused mainly on the virtual cycling experience on real routes, but the new application adds metrics and tools that directly target the overall tracking of fitness levels. The app will be able to show accumulated training load, recovery, fitness scores, training regularity, and long-term evolution using data from both the roller and outdoor activities.
To achieve this, ROUVY has developed a direct integration with compatible Garmin devices such as the Edge 1050, Fenix 8, or Forerunner 970. Users will be able to automatically sync training and activities performed outside the platform and, in addition, take training designed in ROUVY outdoors using compatible cycling computers or Garmin watches.

Another key point of this update is the creation of hybrid training plans. The new Companion App 2.0 will allow combining indoor and outdoor sessions within the same planning, reflecting a common reality among users of virtual platforms, especially during the months with better weather.
ROUVY openly acknowledges this change in habits. Marek-Martin Matyska, the company's vice president of product, explains that many users spend part of the year training outdoors and combine cycling with other sports. According to Matyska, the goal was to create "a home for all training data" that would allow for a better understanding of the overall impact of physical load and current fitness status.

The platform also insists that this update does not aim to compete directly with other more advanced sports analysis applications, but to offer its users an integrated and simple environment from which to interpret performance, recovery, and training decisions.
The Companion App also retains some of the features already present in previous versions, such as remote control of ROUVY from the mobile, virtual gear management, real-time metric visualization, or the ability to explore routes and training before saving them for future sessions.
The new ROUVY Companion App 2.0 is now available. Users without an active subscription will be able to use the activity tracking and general analysis features, although a subscription to ROUVY will be necessary to access the personalized training plans generated based on performance and fitness status.
