Buff Scott team wins the queen stage of the Costa Blanca Bike Race 2020
In the men's category, the Sánchez-Guerra couple from Buff Scott team took the stage victory after the bad day they suffered yesterday due to a flat tire in the first kilometer of the time trial. In the women's category, McConnell-Michiels of Primaflor Mondraker X-Sauce won again, taking three victories in the three stages disputed and increasing their advantage in the general classification.
Today there was a massive start at the Altea Sports Centre with more than 900 participants, adding those from the two and four day categories of the race, who headed for Polop to complete the stage with the greatest difference in level on the Costa Blanca Bike Race.
In the elite men's category, the leading pair Ferreira-Becking of the DMT Racing Team once again took the lead just a few kilometres from the start, but after the first big uphill, they gave the first position to the Norwegian tandem Emil Hasund and Anders Johannessen, who started second overall and wanted to take advantage of the stage to get closer to the first position. Behind them and less than half a minute behind came a large group composed of the two pairs of the Buff Scott team, the couple of Primaflor Mondraker X-Sauce and also Pablo Rodriguez and Carlos Coloma of BH Templo Cafés.

Before the third refreshment point and in one of the fastest and most technical descents of the day, the Norwegian team punctured losing any option to dispute the stage. At that moment began a game of positions that allowed the two couples of the Buff Scott team, Sanchez-Guerra and Looser-Morcillo, to roll in the lead along with Hans Becking and Tiago Ferreira.
Finally, in the last stretch that connects with the hard uphill climb to the Castle of Polop, where the finish line was located, the Buff Scott team imposed a very hard pace that allowed Jose Maria Sanchez and Francesc Guerra to achieve victory with a time of 02:31:45 hours. Second were his teammates Konny Looser and Enrique Morcillo at 28 seconds away. In third place came Tiago Ferreira and Hans Becking at 39 seconds away, which allowed them to keep the lead in the general classification.
After this exciting day, the overall podium is wide open for the last stage of the Costa Blanca Bike Race 2020.
In the elite women's category, the podium has been repeated once again in the sixth edition of the Costa Blanca Bike Race.
