Problems for Campagnolo as it announces significant cuts to its workforce
Campagnolo faces one of the most delicate moments in its recent history. According to Il Gazzettino, the Italian company is preparing a cut that will result in the elimination of about 120 jobs at its headquarters in Vicenza, nearly 40% of the 300 employees currently making up the local workforce. The company has already indicated that “there is no alternative” if it wants to avoid “dramatic consequences for the company and for the city.”
Campagnolo announces a 40% cut in its workforce in Vicenza to try to stabilize its financial situation
The manufacturer acknowledges that the three-year period from 2023 to 2025 has been particularly tough and that negative results, over 24 million euros in losses, have forced it to activate a deep restructuring plan. Campagnolo directly points to the post-pandemic scenario as the trigger for the problem: after the sales boom of 2020 and 2021, the sector has suffered a widespread decline in demand that has left many manufacturers with excess stock, declining margins, and liquidity difficulties.

Despite having received additional funding since the end of 2024, the company admits that its current liquidity does not guarantee continuity “under the present conditions”, which is why it is proposing a 40% cut in labor costs. In practice, this would mean maintaining production in Vicenza with a much-reduced workforce, while part of its industrial capacity would continue to rely on its factory in Romania.

The brand has already presented a recovery plan to both banking entities and potential partners to try to redirect the situation. For now, unions and regional authorities want more details, considering Campagnolo's historical relevance as an employer in the province.
The announcement contrasts with a 2025 filled with launches in the sports and technological fields. The company returned to the WorldTour alongside Cofidis, presented the Super Record Wireless 13-speed range for road and gravel, and hinted that it is working on a more affordable 13-speed wireless system aimed at expanding its presence in the market.
