Pon Bike will close its current European plant for Santa Cruz and Cervelo
The Dutch group Pon Bike announced that it will close its assembly plant located in Mainz, Germany, in 2025, dedicated to Cervelo and Santa Cruz bicycles for the European market. This plant was inaugurated in 2022 and the news of its closure seems to be related to the recently announced closure of the Santa Cruz RockShox Pro Team and a company restructuring.
Pon Bike will close its Santa Cruz and Cervelo factory for Europe
The German website MTB-News was the first to report on the closure of this assembly plant, which will result in the dismissal of 80 employees. This production plant is one of the six that Pon Bike has around the world, and its goal was to produce up to 30,000 Santa Cruz and Cervelo bicycles per year and expand its staff to 100 employees.
In statements to the German media, Pon Bike assures that this closure is part of a restructuring. Starting in the spring of 2025, their headquarters in Emstek, in Lower Saxony, Germany, will be where Santa Cruz and Cervelo bikes for Europe will be produced.
