Poland’s Maria Okrucińska claims the Junior Time Trial rainbow jersey

The Polish Maria Okrucińska is the new junior world time trial champion. The 18-year-old rider triumphed in Montreal after completing the 10.7 kilometers of the course in 15:17.51, averaging nearly 42 km/h.

Okrucińska dominates the junior time trial at the World Championships 

Okrucińska set the pace from the first checkpoint. At the halfway point of kilometer 6, she already had a five-second lead and ended up extending her margin in the final part to claim the rainbow jersey with 12 seconds over Belgian Yana Decruyenaere.

The bronze medal went to British Aalia Clay, 24 seconds behind the winner. Swiss Anja Grossmann finished fourth by just seven hundredths, while Laura Five rounded out the top five positions.
