Pogacar is using a special jersey to avoid being recognized during his training sessions
As we have been observing for a few months now, the following of fans for the great stars is generating increasingly complicated situations during training. One of the clearest examples is Tadej Pogačar, who after having to use a motorcycle for escorting him, has now started using special training equipment designed to make it take longer for fans to recognize him when he rides on the road.

The issue came to light after statements from Alex Carera, the agent of the Slovenian cyclist, during an interview on the Domestique Hotseat program. In it, he explained that the team decided to introduce a different jersey for their training sessions in order to prevent followers from getting too close or trying to stop him for photos.
According to Carera's explanation in that interview, Pogačar sometimes trains in a jersey of different colors than the usual one from UAE Team Emirates, although he keeps the same sponsors. The goal is for those who see him on the road to need a few more seconds to realize that it is the three-time Tour de France winner.

This small margin of time is usually enough for the Slovenian to continue his route without interruptions. Carera himself acknowledged that, without this resource, it is common for many fans to try to follow him or stop him during training to ask for photos or record videos.
The increase in the media exposure of cyclists and the rise of social media have caused more and more fans to try to follow or record professionals while they train. The most recent incident occurred with Jonas Vingegaard, who suffered a fall in Spain during a training session while an amateur cyclist was following behind him.
This is not the first time that Pogacar's team has tried to reduce interruptions during their sessions. Here we already explained how the UAE Team Emirates even accompanied him with a motorcycle in some training sessions to prevent fans from getting too close.
There have also been scenes where Pogačar himself wore messages on his jersey requesting not to take photos or interrupt his training, a gesture that reflects how overwhelmed the world champion feels during his training.
