The Spanish brand Bikeone continues to reduce the weight of Pogacar: this is the new bottom bracket cups with ceramic bearings
The Zaragoza-based company Bikeone has been supplying its elaborate bottom bracket cups with ceramic bearings to the bikes of the UAE Team Emirates-XRG for two years, adding to the marginal gains that make the Colnago bikes used by Tadej Pogacar very different from the standard models we can purchase. Now, Bikeone launches the Road Ceramic Aero UAE model, which reduces the weight of the previous model used by the team by 15 grams.

The marginal gains of the UAE for Pogacar's bike bottom bracket come from Zaragoza
Only 77 grams. That is the weight declared by Bikeone for its new BSA Road Ceramic UAE for Shimano bottom bracket cups, which, as their name suggests, are designed for bikes with the typical English thread in their bottom bracket and with an internal bearing diameter of 24 millimeters, which is the standard used by the Japanese brand's Hollowtech II cranks.

These bearings, as expected, use ABEC5/P5-2RS ceramic bearings. However, the peculiarities of this bottom bracket are found in its cups, which are primarily responsible for the lightness of the assembly.
Made from 7075 T6 aluminum, it is noteworthy that the left cup is completely smooth with the aim, according to the brand, of providing a more aerodynamic surface on this side of the bike where that area is more exposed to airflow. For installation, it features internal notches that accommodate a specific tool included with the cups, meaning that, contrary to the usual practice, the internal cup is the one that needs to be threaded and tightened first.
Meanwhile, the right cup has the usual notches of BSA bottom brackets, in fewer numbers, in order to save a few grams, but with a spacing that allows the use of the conventional tool for this type of cups.
A bottom bracket that will be available for sale starting the second week of January on Bikeone's own website and that, as expected for such an elaborate product, comes with a price of €349.
