Pidcock feels liberated: "I am much better"
In statements before Saturday's Omloop Het Niewsblad, Tom Pidcock was honest about his start to the season and his feelings within Q36.5. A paradigm shift that, in the mental aspect, seems to be very beneficial for the British rider despite his discreet participation in the opening weekend of the Belgian classics.
The 2025 season is a story yet to be written for a Tom Pidcock with renewed motivation
The mind is almost as important as the legs in cycling, and a clear example of this is the change in mentality that Tom Pidcock has undergone after his turbulent times in the ranks of INEOS Grenadiers, where he was questioned for not meeting expectations on the road; and his subsequent move to Q36.5 which has brought a breath of fresh air to his sports career.
“Cycling has given me new interests, a new life, and new energies” Tom Pidcock stated emphatically in the lead-up to the Omloop Het Niewsblad about his start to the season with Q36.5 and after the winter soap opera that led to his disagreement and departure from INEOS Grenadiers.

A season that could not have started better for the British cyclist with his two stage victories plus the overall win at the AlUla Tour and a notable performance in the Vuelta a Andalucía where he had to settle for third place overall but did not leave empty-handed after winning the second stage. After an Opening Weekend where he did not have the opportunity to shine, in reality none of the classics specialists did, with both races ending in mass sprints, now Pidcock is planning to compete in the Strade Bianche next weekend, a race he already knows how to win and where he will face the best cyclist of the moment: Tadej Pogacar.
“I am in a good moment, both mentally and physically. The new team has helped me take a step forward as a cyclist”. A situation that contrasts with his statements from a few months ago where he claimed to feel demoralized and mentally exhausted.
Tom Pidcock's aspirations are not limited to trying to have a great spring but he is already looking towards the Tour, assuming that his team will be among the invitees “I want to take this team to the Tour and make our way there. It will be a new experience and a new beginning”.
