Peter Sagan begins his 2024 in South Africa. Will we see him at the Cape Epic?

Three-time road champion Peter Sagan is facing a very different 2024 from the rest of his sporting career and has just started it in South Africa. After announcing his retirement from road racing in 2023, this year his goals are focused on mountain biking and reaching the Paris Olympics.

Peter Sagan begins his mountain bike preseason in South Africa

In 2023 he announced his retirement from professional road cycling while also revealing that his next goals would be in mountain biking, the discipline in which he started. We also learned that he will compete hand in hand with Specialized, the brand he has been an ambassador for since 2015, and that it will be the mountain bike factory team, Specialized Factory Racing, which will support him in all international races, such as those he will compete in Spain in February.

He has now announced on his social networks that he will go to South Africa, one of the favorite places for cyclists in the preseason and where bikers like Nino Schurter are also already there. Sagan will do a training camp there for at least a month that will serve as a base to start his planned calendar on February 11 in Abu Dhabi.
