Pauline undergoes surgery to take advantage of her early end of season
After a season as intense as successful, Pauline Ferrand-Prévot has announced the early end of her competitive year after undergoing ankle surgery.
Pauline Ferrand-Prévot ends her season after surgery
The French cyclist, who returned to the road in style this 2025, winning the Tour de France, decided to participate in the World Championship in Rwanda despite it not being initially planned. However, the bet did not go as expected. She started as one of the top favorites for the title, but a strategic mistake ended her chances and she crossed the finish line in 16th position, 1:50 behind Canadian Magdeleine Vallieres. Shortly after, Ferrand-Prévot fell ill, which forced her to also give up on the European Championship and conclude her campaign.

Now we have learned that the Visma team cyclist has taken advantage of this early break to definitively solve an injury she has been carrying throughout the season.

Through her Instagram account, the Team Visma Lease a Bike Women rider explained the reasons for her surgery:
"There have been ups and downs, but since my fall in March at Strade Bianche I have always had problems with my ankle. I felt bad since the World Cup in Rwanda and, upon returning, I got sick. Today I had to have surgery," wrote the Frenchwoman, accompanying the text with a photo from the hospital room.
Although she has not specified the injury, this operation seems to serve to definitively solve the discomfort she has been carrying since March and, according to the cyclist herself, the recovery protocol will keep her without exercise for about three weeks.
Ferrand-Prévot thus closes a brilliant season, marked by dominance in the Tour de France, her victory in the Paris Roubaix, and the reaffirmation of her status as one of the great figures in world cycling. Now, the goal will be to fully recover her ankle and prepare for the return with an eye on 2026.
