Pauline Ferrand-Prévot focused her return to road cycling in 2025 as a season of adaptation to a discipline that has little to do with what she knew in her early days. However, the Frenchwoman has been demonstrating her class and already surprised by making it to the podium at Strade Bianche, and last week at the Tour of Flanders, with her second place showing that she was in great form. Now, in the 2025 Paris-Roubaix, she pulls off a major upset by winning the cobblestone.

A tremendous display of strength and race vision by the Frenchwoman Pauline Ferrand-Prévot, who in a clever move just over 20 kilometers from the finish line, managed to surprise the cyclists from SD Worx-Protime who seemed to have everything in their favor to continue adding victories in a fantastic spring for them.

The first part of the race was a slow cook over low heat, where by natural selection with the addition of the sections, the best riders were left ahead. However, it wasn't until the Orchies à Bersée section, just before the tough Mons en Pévèle, when Lotte Kopecky decided to go all out and break away from the leading group. But her offensive was met at all times by a resilient Marianne Vos who stuck to her wheel.

This vigilance from the veteran Visma-Lease a Bike cyclist, combined with the plan of SD Worx-Protime to keep their two main riders at the front for as long as possible, even though Lorena Wiebes showed some signs of weakness when trying to return to the front after attacks from her teammate, led to what often happens in Paris-Roubaix: a regrouping that allowed a large chasing group to catch up, including Pauline Ferrand-Prévot.

With most already thinking about playing their cards on the feared Carrefour de l'Arbre, around 30 kilometers from the finish line, Emma Norsgaard launched an attack looking to surprise. The Danish rider managed to gain about 15 seconds of advantage, and on a stretch of road, with the race completely calm, with just over 24 kilometers to go, Pauline Ferrand-Prévot made a strong move.

She quickly caught up to Emma Norsgaard, with whom she worked perfectly together, and they soon began to consolidate a lead of around 15-20 seconds, while behind them, Chloé Dygert tried to use her time trial skills to close the gap. However, in the Camphin en Pévèle sector, just before the Carrefour de l'Arbre and almost as tough as this legendary section, the Frenchwoman increased the pace and, without needing to attack, made Emma surrender.

With a clear path, Pauline Ferrand-Prévot only had to switch to time trial mode to increase the gap, while in the chasing group, Marianne Vos focused on controlling the situation, resulting in the gap increasing to nearly a minute without the cyclists from SD Worx-Protime seeming to have many more bullets in their chamber.

Pauline Ferrand-Prévot arrived with a comfortable lead at the Roubaix velodrome to enjoy the cheers of the crowd, entering victorious in one of the most iconic races on the calendar, despite it being only the 5th edition of the women's version. The cobblestone of Paris-Roubaix was hers.

Behind her, it was only left to determine who would occupy the second and third steps of the podium after Emma Norsgaard was caught. Almost at the same velodrome, EF Education-Oathly's cyclist Letizia Borghesi stood out, securing a commendable second place, while the battle for the third step was fought in a tight sprint in which Marianne Vos couldn't complete the magical day for Visma-Lease a Bike by just a few millimeters, being surpassed at the finish line by Lorena Wiebes who salvaged the honor of SD Worx-Protime.
