Pauline Ferrand-Prévot retires from MTB in Andorra
After winning the gold medal at the Paris Olympics and confirming that she will compete on the road for Team Visma Lease a Bike in 2025, it was still unknown how Pauline Ferrand-Prévot would finish the current season. She has just confirmed that the World Championships in Andorra will be her last MTB race.
Pauline Ferrand-Prévot confirms that the 2024 XCO World Championships in Andorra will be her last MTB race
Although Pauline has been hinting at her switch to road cycling for months and recently officially signed with Visma Lease a Bike, many of us thought she could combine both disciplines (XCO and road) in the upcoming seasons. But that's not the case according to her latest statement. The most decorated mountain biker is bidding farewell to this sport and will do so next week in Andorra.
She announced it herself on her social media:
RECOMENDADO
In less than a week I will participate in my last MTB World Championships, but it will also be my last MTB race. To be honest, it sounds a bit strange to write that but I feel happy and at peace with my decision, as I have a new goal and a new challenge ahead.
In the past years I have met incredible people, I have seen incredible places. Surely, this sport will always be number 1 in my heart.
In 2015, I won the gold medal here in Andorra for my first Elite MTB World title. I would be extremely proud to close this chapter of my life in the same way. So, let's have a good last dance.
