The Orbea Monegros is once again a success
The Orbea Monegros is one of the most popular MTB races in Spain and its XXII edition held this weekend, with 8,000 cyclists, has been a resounding success once again.
The Orbea Monegros continues to be a reference in Spanish MTB
The XXII edition of the Orbea Monegros started again on Friday with the Orbea Midnight Monegros, an attractive race in which 50 participants covered the 74 km and 867 meters of elevation gain of the route before midnight. A success that consolidates this innovative proposal started last year and invites you to discover this unique landscape from a nocturnal perspective.
But the main event arrived on Saturday with the marathon and half marathon. The two reference tests saw 6,000 cyclists take the start. The marathon, with 106 km, started at 12:00 p.m., while the half marathon, with 79 km, began an hour later, at 1:00 p.m.

The first place finishers in the long distance were Unai Mateo in the men's race and Chus Til in the women's race. In fact, one of the highlights of the edition has been the high female participation with almost 1,000 cyclists participating in one of the formats.
Among the various special distinctions awarded by the organization, in this XXII edition Lluis Nogueras and Maria Consuelo Villanueva have been recognized in the category of the most veteran cyclist in the marathon, and Jose Luis Diego Martinez and Consol Pio Mager as the most veteran participant in the half marathon; C.C. Sariñena as the largest club, and finally, Antonio Jimenez Caracuel has received the award for the Spirit of Overcoming.
