The WHOOP UCI Mountain Bike World Series, organizer of the UCI Mountain Bike World Cup, has just announced the dates and venues for the year 2025. A season that introduces a new venue, brings back some fan-favorite venues, and eliminates the XCM format, among other novelties.

The MTB World Cup debuts its 2025 calendar

The MTB World Cup 2025 will last 7 months, will have 16 competition weekends, and will include 10 XCO and DH events, and 8 Enduro events.

This will be the third season since Warner joined the UCI to renew the formats of the UCI World Cup and unify all disciplines under one competition. It will visit ten countries in 15 rounds (16 race weekends) between April and October, and will feature the best athletes who are now divided into two categories: Endurance, for XCO and Short Track, XCC cyclists, and Gravity, where DH and Enduro cyclists are located.

It is important to note that the new calendar does not mention, nor include, the Marathon discipline (XCM) so, after a 2024 in which its dates were announced late and only with 3 events, it can be understood that it has been removed from the 2025 schedule.

The calendar will kick off in April with a new double Brazilian XCO event in Araxá and Minas Gerais, to continue in Italy with the first UCI Enduro World Cup event in Pietra Ligure - Finale Outdoor Region. Poland will be the first double venue of the year with DH and Enduro events at Enduro Trails - Bielsko-Bia?a.

In 2025, we will see the return of Loudenvielle-Peyragudes (France) as a Gravity venue, and Nové M?sto Na Morav? (Czech Republic) for XCO. The venue Saalfelden Leogang - Salzburgerland (Austria) will host a triple XCO/XCC/DHI/EDR event and is expected to be a regular stop in the coming years.

The second half of the season will have a regular XCO venue, such as Val Di Sole - Trentino, and a completely new one with the UCI World Cup La Thuile - Valle d'Aosta, in Italy. The World Cup events in Val di Fassa - Trentino (Italy) and Pal Arinsal (Andorra) will return to the calendar with Enduro-DH and XCO disciplines respectively.

France will have two consecutive weekends with World Cup events in Haute-Savoie, France (although the exact venues will be announced later), and Switzerland, right after the Valais World Championships, will host the XCO/XCC/DH World Cup in Bike Kingdom-Lenzerheide.

The calendar will jump to North America in October to conclude with the XCO/DH events in Lake Placid (USA) and Mont-Sainte-Anne (Canada).

Chris Ball, representative of Warner Bros. Discovery Sports Europe, explained this new calendar as follows: "Although I am eager to see the end of this year's WHOOP UCI Mountain Bike World Series, the 2025 edition is shaping up to be the best season yet. We are expanding once again and welcoming La Thuile to the UCI World Cup family, while Lake Placid adds Downhill to its program and raises the number of UCI Downhill World Cup rounds to 10. The calendar will also see the return of venues that made a successful debut in 2024, as well as icons of this sport, such as Val di Fassa, Nové M?sto Na Morav?, and Mont-Sainte-Anne. A perfect combination of innovation and tradition."

"Regardless of their history, each round will take place at a venue that is at the forefront of mountain bike course design, guaranteeing exciting and adrenaline-filled races from start to finish. The venues are also at the heart of communities passionate about mountain biking, and fans, both local and distant, will fill the tracks and make their presence felt on race day."

On the other hand, UCI President David Lappartient said: "The WHOOP UCI Mountain Bike World Series has already increased the visibility of mountain biking, with more rounds and more host venues than ever before. In 2025, we will continue the momentum with another new venue joining the Series. Starting in Brazil in April and ending in Canada after months of exciting races, athletes and fans have much to look forward to next season. It's going to be another intense year of mountain bike racing!"
