The Swiss Nino Schurter has not yet scored any points in 2024 and is currently competing in his first race of the year at the Cape Epic, but the UCI ranking is still in motion and has just elevated him back to number 1.
Nino Schurter is back to number 1 in the UCI Ranking
As every Tuesday, the UCI has just updated its Cross Country Ranking, and although we all know that these positions will change a lot as soon as the XCO World Cup starts on April 12 in Brazil, this is the ranking that will be most important this year for the classification for the Paris Olympics.
In the men's elite category, Swiss Nino Schurter returns to number 1 after his compatriot Thomas Fluckiger falls to second place. Both have not yet scored any points this season, but the Ranking is updated with the total points earned in a dynamic period of time and this time it has benefited the 10-time world champion.

France has 4 cyclists in the Top 10 and Koretzky is doing everything possible to be the first of his countrymen
Just like Switzerland, France is another team that will have a difficult time choosing its representatives for the Paris Olympics, as there are currently up to 4 French cyclists in the Top 10, and surely those who are best positioned in this Ranking will go. Victor Koretzky knows this and is striving to resolve it in his favor.
Victor Koretzky is currently number 10 in the ranking and has 3 more compatriots ahead of him, but in 2024 Koretzky has competed in 5 races and has won them all. So far, this has earned him 3 positions in the Ranking and it looks like his trajectory will continue to rise in the coming months with the sole objective of securing a spot for the Olympics.
