Nino Schurter's participation in The Rift 2026 has left us with the first images of a completely new bike from SCOTT, a model that does not currently exist in the brand's catalog and that could anticipate the next generation of the SCOTT Addict Gravel.

Nino Schurter debuts an unprecedented SCOTT at The Rift 2026

So far, in all the gravel races held this season, Schurter had used the SCOTT Addict Gravel with which he officially debuted in the discipline. However, in Iceland, he appeared with a completely new frame that had never been seen in competition before.

One of the toughest races of his sports career

After finishing the race, in which he achieved tenth place, Schurter explained on his social media that The Rift had posed one of the greatest challenges he has faced on a bike.

“The highlands of Iceland look like another planet. I was having an incredible race until a flat tire at kilometer 145 turned it into a real survival mission. Brutally tough, but it was worth it for every river crossing… and for the 12 gels I took.”

Despite the setback, the ten-time XCO world champion managed to finish in the top ten.

A completely new bike

Beyond the sporting result, the photographs published by Schurter himself revealed that the SCOTT-SRAM MTB Racing Team rider is using a frame completely different from what has been seen so far.

The differences compared to the current SCOTT Addict Gravel are evident. The new frame features much more modern shapes and a design that immediately recalls the latest bikes from the Swiss brand.

One of the most striking changes is the larger tire clearance, clearly superior to that of the current model, following the gravel trend towards increasingly wider tires. There is also a larger down tube, the size of which even suggests the possible incorporation of an internal storage compartment, a solution increasingly common in high-performance bikes.

It inherits the aesthetics of the latest SCOTT prototypes

The general lines of the frame and fork clearly resemble the SCOTT RC Gravel 32” Prototype, the surprising 32-inch wheeled bike that caught attention during the last Unbound and later debuted with a victory at the Unbound XL.

That prototype already showcased a new design philosophy within SCOTT, with more streamlined tubes, much greater integration, and a geometry clearly oriented towards performance. The bike now used by Schurter seems to follow exactly that same aesthetic language, while maintaining conventional wheels for a competition like The Rift.

Interestingly, this visual evolution already had its origin in the new SCOTT Addict road bike presented just a year ago, so everything points to the brand transferring that design identity to the rest of its range.

All of this invites speculation that it could be a preview of the next generation of the SCOTT Addict Gravel, a model that, judging by the first images, will have a completely redesigned frame and solutions inspired by both the new Addict road bike and the innovative 32-inch wheel project.
