New Supersix EVO SE and CX 2024: Cannondale updates its gravel and CX racing products without further announcement
After the renewal of its flagship road bike, Cannondale updates the Gravel and CX versions of its Supersix EVO. The Supersix EVO SE and CX a bike with the competitive genetics of the top-of-the-line road bike but fully prepared to pedal off-road at full speed and available in SE versions for competitive gravel or CX for mud discipline lovers.
Maximum performance also off-road with the new Cannondale Supersix SE and CX
We are finding more and more competitive gravel bikes in the catalogs of brands, confirming what we have been predicting for several seasons, that the great diversity of use situations posed by gravel as a discipline would lead to its segmentation as it has been happening.
Competitive bikes that, on the other hand, have handling needs that do not differ much from those demanded by cyclocross racers on the circuits and, in turn, do not differ significantly from the requirements of a road cyclist. In the end, the different modalities intertwine and the boundaries between one modality and another become blurred. With this approach, several brands have a CX and Gravel bike that share the same frame, varying only the tire size mounted and, if anything, the assembly of forks with different advances seeking to maximize agility in the circuit version.
RECOMENDADO
Cannondale is one of the brands that has adopted this perspective, with a CX and Gravel bike that draws directly from its road competition model Supersix EVO, adopting the designation SE for the gravel version and CX for cyclocross. A bike that is now renewed including some of the features that were already included in the last evolution of the Cannonddale Supersix EVO road bike such as the aerodynamic profiles of its tubes or the Delta fork tube that allows a simple passage of internal wiring through the steering maintaining a streamlined head tube.
However, the great achievement of this Supersix EVO SE/CX is its great adaptability to both gravel use and twisty cyclocross circuits, a secret that lies behind its sophisticated geometry. On the one hand, at the front, the steering has a 70° angle, relaxed but not as much as what is trending in more adventurous gravel bikes, which is combined with a very generous fork offset that causes, on the one hand, an increase in the wheelbase length that provides more stability and, on the other hand, a reduction in the steering trail which makes it much more agile.
Meanwhile, its rear end remains as short as the wheel clearances allow which results in great traction capacity and ease of leaning the bike and making quick direction changes. Additionally, we must consider the influence of tire size on the geometry, so that, with gravel tires up to 45 mm, the maximum it accepts, the set becomes more stable while with 33 mm CX tires, agility is maximized.
