New Shimano EP5 and E5100
Shimano announces that it is expanding the family of motors for electric bicycles. The Japanese giant has presented the two new drive units that will now be part of the brand's catalog: the quiet EP5 with 60 Nm and the lightweight E5100 with 50 Nm. Both models aim to provide urban cyclists with a greater pleasure in their rides.
Shimano EP5 and E5100: the arrival of motors designed to keep moving forward
Electric bikes have had a good share of the cycling market for some time now. In fact, the annual report of the Spanish Bicycle Brands Association reflects the good health of e-bikes, which with 241,000 units sold have been the leading category in the Spanish market for the fourth consecutive year. Shimano is aware of the importance of this segment and, as one of the largest motor manufacturers, now announces the launch of two new models.
Shimano is going through a period of instability after suffering several poor economic results and having to deal with negative news, such as the notice of inspection and replacement of some cranks. However, the continuous evolution of a dynamic sport like cycling has forced them to keep introducing innovations and registering new patents.
