New POC Cytal Carbon: the best helmet from the brand
POC has announced the launch of the Cytal Carbon. The helmet that the riders of the EF Pro Cycling team have been wearing for a few weeks includes a small carbon spoiler at the back and has been tested in the wind tunnel to improve aerodynamic performance. The model weighs 250 grams and is available for 400 euros.
POC Cytal Carbon: cutting-edge technology for the latest creation from one of the market leaders
The helmet plays a fundamental role as the cyclist's main safety element; vital and essential in the wardrobe of any cycling enthusiast. However, the demanding world of competition requires manufacturers to invest in developing a piece that is aerodynamic and has a high level of ventilation, beyond the inherent safety of these components. If a few months ago POC presented the Procen Air, now it's the turn of the Cytal Carbon.
The POC Cytal Carbon is a helmet designed to meet the three basic needs of top-level cyclists: safety, aerodynamics, and ventilation. The model pivots on these three axes, and the Swedish manufacturer ensures that they are generously provided.
RECOMENDADO
POC's product manager, Oscar Huss, stated that he is "very satisfied" with the result. The helmet's design is based on the well-known Venturi effect, which uses the rear part to efficiently expel hot air. This rear part houses the most eye-catching element of the Cytal Carbon: the carbon spoiler.
It is a piece molded in Italy and serves to increase ventilation and cooling across the entire head. The carbon has variable shape and thickness - similar to that of a wing - with the aim of increasing air speed and improving cooling.
The spoiler has been tested in the wind tunnel and, combined with the linear interior channels to guide the airflow, a large amount of air is able to circulate through and around the helmet.
To provide the Cytal Carbon with aerodynamic performance, POC has also used the wind tunnel and real tests with EF Pro Cycling riders. The front vents are now larger to cut through the air, with a size and angles that capture and guide the air through the helmet instead of around it. This reduces turbulence and maintains a linear airflow outside the helmet.
Safety is the cornerstone of any helmet, and among other features, the Koridion core stands out, interposed between the carbon layers of the spoiler to improve safety by managing and transferring forces through the helmet, reinforcing the overall integrity of the helmet.
Additionally, it also includes precise density EPS zones and ergonomic straps. EF Pro Cycling's performance manager, Andreas Klier, explained that "we spent a lot of time working with POC engineers to fine-tune the details and both we and the riders are really satisfied with the results."
