The new Pinarello Dogma F is lighter and more aerodynamic
Just in time for the Tour de France, the new weapon of INEOS Grenadiers, the Pinarello Dogma F, is renewed to continue scraping marginal gains with a significant increase in stiffness, less weight, and much more refined aerodynamics, in addition to, of course, maintaining its unmistakable aesthetic that has become a hallmark of the brand.
More marginal gains for INEOS Grenadiers with the new Pinarello Dogma F
Days of bike presentations leading up to the 2024 Tour de France. As has happened with many others, bikes that professionals have been testing more or less in secret during these months until they find the final version that has reached production and is now being presented.

In the case of Pinarello, with a new Dogma F that, at first glance, receives few modifications compared to the previous one, few but important ones that reinforce the aerodynamic qualities of a model that, on the other hand, has always remained a versatile option, without falling into the trend of a few years ago of manufacturing an ultralight model and another aerodynamic one for professionals. Time seems to have proven the Italian brand right, and the Dogma is more current than ever.
Although it may not be visible externally, the redesign work over the past two years has been significant, with a completely new carbon layup, designed to make the most of the new M40X carbon fiber from the Japanese supplier Toray. Fibers that were already used in some bikes but only in very specific areas to reinforce the points of greatest structural stress.
As a result, there is a significant increase in the stiffness of the frame of this new Pinarello Dogma F, and, as is usual, this entails the need to use less material to achieve the goals set in this parameter, resulting in shaving off some grams on the scale, about 108 grams in the complete frame kit (which includes fork, seatpost, and integrated handlebar), although this is not something that Pinarello has specifically sought.
Their engineers have paid more attention to improving aerodynamics, as according to a study in which they analyzed all the power losses of Geraint Thomas during the 2022 Tour de France in different race situations and terrains, this is the parameter where the cyclist can save the most energy.
The new Dogma F claims a 0.2% improvement in CDA compared to its predecessor. These improvements are mainly achieved with the redesign of the downtube, now slightly more vertical by rotating 3.5 degrees to offer a slightly smaller frontal area. This makes the tube reach the bottom bracket area more forward of the axis, which Pinarello uses to create a monolithic structure that practically engulfs the bottom bracket, Italian thread, of course, and adds a good amount of material that profiles in front of the cranks with a shaping that optimally guides the air in this area.
Frontal area is also reduced in the head tube, now 8 millimeters narrower. To accommodate both the fork tube and pass the brake hoses, Pinarello has redesigned the fork tube, which acquires a wider elliptical section towards the sides to ensure lateral rigidity and flattened in the longitudinal plane to favor absorption and leave more space for cabling. In turn, the head tube protrudes more prominently forward, making it slightly sharper to the air. A fork redesign that, as expected, also affects the section of its legs and head to improve aerodynamics.
Continuing with the improvement in wind resistance, the detail that catches the eye at first sight is the dropouts with one end blind, housing the through axle thread. In the fork, of course, the small aerodynamic flap that has already become a trademark in this model is maintained.
The last element to contribute to the aerodynamic improvement is the new Talon Ultra Fast integrated handlebar, which is not oblivious to the current trend and adds a slight flare in its lines to place the cyclist in a narrower position when holding the levers.
Regarding assemblies, as is customary with the Spanish distributor, they overlook the standard configurations of the brand and provide the option to make almost custom assemblies, so it will be necessary to pay attention to the prices and options they offer.
