New Grevil MX: Pinarello crosses all borders with a gravel bike convertible to MTB
The Italian brand expands its gravel range with a radically different model. The new Pinarello Grevil MX is designed to take gravel beyond its traditional limits, combining aerodynamic efficiency and the position of a road bike with the stability, control, and technical capability of a mountain bike (MTB).

New Pinarello Grevil MX: Gravel, but with XC DNA
The concept of the Grevil MX is based on the key decision to directly adopt geometry parameters from competitive MTB. Specifically, it inherits the steering angle (67.75°) and the offset (101 mm) from the DOGMA XC, combining them with a Most cockpit typical of the brand's most advanced road bikes.

This contrast defines the character of the Grevil MX. On one hand, a stable and launched steering, designed for fast descents and control in technical areas; on the other, the MOST Talon Ultra Light handlebar, common in Pinarello's high-end road models, which allows for a lower, more compact, and aerodynamic position than a conventional gravel bike with flat handlebars or long stems.

This equation is complemented by the front suspension fork, a determining element in the behavior of the bike. Pinarello opts for 100 mm of travel, seeking the best possible balance between absorption, weight, and efficiency over long distances.
The frame of the Grevil MX is made of Toray M40J carbon fiber, one of the highest modulus materials used by the brand in its high-performance models. It fully integrates the wiring through the TiCR system and uses a threaded bottom bracket, a choice aimed at durability and intensive use in adverse conditions.

One of the key structural points is the bottom bracket area, which adopts the high-stiffness triangular structure that we have already seen in Pinarello's MTBs and has been designed to withstand strong torsional loads during explosive accelerations and very steep climbs. At the rear, Pinarello maintains its characteristic asymmetric architecture, specifically reinforcing the left side of the frame to compensate for the tensions generated by the drivetrain. The goal is to improve traction, power transfer, and stability on loose or uneven surfaces.

The chainstays and seatstays have been redesigned and reinforced to withstand the demands of more aggressive gravel riding, where lateral and torsional forces are much closer to those of an MTB than to those of a classic gravel bike.
The Grevil MX is optimized for gravel tires up to 50 mm, a size that Pinarello considers ideal for maximizing traction, control, and reducing fatigue on long and technical rides. In combination with the front suspension, the bike is clearly oriented towards terrains where a rigid gravel bike starts to fall short.
In the drivetrain section, with a chainline of 55 mm, Pinarello takes a step beyond the usual gravel setups. The 38T – 10/52 system offers climbing capabilities far superior to conventional gravel chainrings and, at the same time, an effective cadence on fast descents, something uncommon in MTB-inspired configurations.

Additionally, it accommodates a 30.9 mm dropper post, a key element for improving control on technical descents, and is compatible with the MOST Talon XC cockpit, allowing for a configuration closer to MTB for those who prioritize handling and stability over a purely aerodynamic position.
Pinarello envisions the Grevil MX as an adaptable platform, capable of adjusting to different usage approaches, from the most extreme gravel racing to long adventure routes.

Fausto Pinarello, president of the brand, summarizes the model's approach: “The Grevil MX is designed for cyclists who take gravel beyond its usual limits. It is a very versatile bike, perfect for both racing and adventures where you venture into the unknown. It can handle long climbs and rocky descents with ease, combining MTB sensations with the ergonomics of a road bike. It is a unique addition to our gravel range.”
