New Continental Grand Prix TR: a quality tubeless-ready tire at a good price
After a few years with the GP5000 tires, one of the most reputable high-performance tires of the moment, Continental takes the next step and extends the benefits and technology of those tires to a mid-range tire. To do this, they renew their Grand Prix with the idea of having a versatile tubeless tire, suitable for both training and performance, at a more affordable price than their top-of-the-line tires.
Continental repeats the formula by improving their Grand Prix to equip them with the technology of the GP5000
Under a concept of year-round tires, the Grand Prix have occupied the second tier of Continental's range for years, offering very decent performance with greater durability than the competition model.
However, the German brand kept this tire unchanged, focusing on the evolution of their GP5000, tires that have been on the market for a few years now, enough to establish themselves as favorites among cyclists for their combination of performance, durability, and puncture resistance.

The Grand Prix TR inherit the tubeless ready technology from their older sisters but with a different casing, this one with 4 layers of fabric compared to the 3 of the GP5000 in the S TR version, the most common. This results in a slight weight increase but also greater resistance to cuts and punctures. A completely renewed casing with a 60 TPI weave, a feature that also differs from the GP5000 which have a much more flexible 120 TPI casing.
For the tread, the Grand Prix TR use the usual Black Chili compound, with a tread pattern similar to that of the GP5000. Additionally, Continental ensures that these tires can be mounted without any issues on hookless type rims, another point in their favor.
Initially, the Grand Prix will be available in sizes of 700x25c, 700x28c, 700x30c, and 700x32c, in both black sidewall and cream color options, with a declared weight of 310 g for the 700x25c version. These tires have an official price of €61.95. In addition to the Tubeless Ready model, the Grand Prix will also be available in a conventional version for use with inner tubes.
