New Cannondale SuperX: totally redesigned to become a gravel thoroughbred

Cannondale recovers the SuperX designation. Traditionally used to identify its cyclocross bikes, now it will also be used for its competition gravel bike, which will also be the option available for those competing in the mud discipline. A completely redesigned bike to become a thoroughbred gravel bike, especially in its Lab71 version.

The Cannondale SuperX returns now with competition gravel as its goal

After several years using the SuperSix EVO SE designation to define its competition gravel and cyclocross bike, Cannondale has taken advantage of the complete renovation of the bike, which distances it from the road model from which its predecessor took its name.

However, the philosophy remains the same: to achieve a fast, light, and extremely absorbent gravel bike to deal with the long distances of events like the Unbound Gravel, won in 2024 by Latchlan Morton riding the SuperSix EVO SE and applying the latest technology.

With these premises in mind, Cannondale has built a frame for this new SuperX weighing only 900 g, in the Lab71 version, which reduces the weight of its predecessor by 100 g and does so with a design that is highly worked on, where the contrast between the robustness of the front half stands out, with a rear part where its minimalist flattened seat tube, the D-shaped seatpost with absorption zone under the head, and minimal seat stays and chainstays, the latter flattened to improve absorption.

Of course, following the trend and being a brand that has traditionally worked closely with SRAM, Cannondale incorporates the increasingly common UDH derailleur hanger that allows for setups with the Red AXS XPLR 13-speed. It is also worth mentioning the wide tire clearance that this Cannondale SuperX offers for a competition gravel bike, accommodating 700x48 tires in the rear and 700x51 in the front wheel.

Cannondale does not miss the opportunity to incorporate some of the technical solutions from its SuperSix EVO into this SuperX, such as the Delta fork tube that allows for easier routing of brake hoses through the steerer tube; or the integrated SystemBar R-One handlebar similar to the one used in the road competition model.

Although it is a bike designed for gravel races, thinking of long-distance events, Cannondale has added threads on the top tube to mount a small top tube bikepacking bag, threads that can be hidden if not used with an included cover.

It goes without saying that the geometry of the SuperX is aggressive, as befits a bike oriented towards gravel competitions, making it possible to simply mount 700x33 tires and have a fully guaranteed cyclocross bike.
