Netflix cancels its series about the Tour due to lack of interest
After three recorded seasons, the last one will air shortly before the start of the next Tour de France, Netflix seems to have made the decision not to continue with the production of its series about the French race. Now, the platform could be considering repeating the experience but with the female version of the Grande Boucle.
The third season of "In the Heart of the Peloton" will be the last one aired by Netflix
Although the platform has not officially confirmed it, today we woke up to the news from the newspaper Le Parisien announcing that Netflix will not continue with the production of the series Tour de France: In the Heart of the Peloton that has been airing during the last seasons and which collects all the details of the previous year's edition with access to the backstage of different teams, statements from cyclists, and spectacular images of the race as is usual in this "inside" format.
As we say, the cancellation news is not official but everything points to it being so since, as confirmed by the French newspaper with different teams, they have not yet had any contact with Netflix to close the next season, something that normally happened during the month of January.

Negotiations in which the contract was closed to allow camera access to the ins and outs of each team featured in the documentary and, as indicated, each squad received the juicy sum of €50,000 for their participation in the series.
There are several reasons that are pointed out for Netflix to have chosen not to continue with the series. On the one hand, the inherent one to the format that, after all, ends up being repetitive even though the race each year is different, so, as they say, it is necessary to renew oneself once this path is exhausted.
It could also have affected that with this production Netflix intended to significantly increase the number of subscribers to its platform in France. However, In the Heart of the Peloton seems to have had more success outside this country than in France.
Then there is the focus of the documentary that everyone points out, it is oriented towards a more general audience so its contribution is limited for the regular cycling fan. A type of audience that is more difficult to retain, especially if, as we pointed out at the beginning, the format is practically the same from one year to another.
In any case, according to some rumors, this would not mean goodbye to cycling from Netflix, which could be considering repeating the experience but this time with a series focused on the Women's Tour de France. We will have to wait to see if the platform pronounces and clears our doubts.
