The most expensive bike in the Olympics costs 126,000 €, yes you read that right: 126k
We often think of professional road bikes as unattainable machines. However, in track cycling, with models where aerodynamics are taken to extremes close to Formula 1, the prices of bikes in this discipline have skyrocketed to levels of true madness.
Track bikes in Paris 2024 the most expensive you can find
First of all, we remind you that, for a bicycle to be used in competition at the Olympic Games, it must have been on the market for the last year, that is, all are machines that we could have. That is why the track bikes that we will see at the velodrome of Saint Quentin en Yvelines during the Paris 2024 Olympic Games have been competing for a year in the different Olympic disciplines that are decided on the track.

And the most expensive bike that can be found at the Olympic Games is the V-IZU TCM2 used by the Japanese team and whose price rises to €126,555, without VAT. A bike that follows the line that Hope opened a few years ago with its famous HB.T, in which the fork, stays, and seatstays are opened as much as possible to minimize the interaction of these elements with the wheels and the airflow that passes through them.
The second on the list is also a V-IZU, in this case its model TCM1 which rises to €112,320, which, in this case, has a fork, stays, and seatstays of more conventional design and is chosen in the endurance disciplines, within the Olympic program, only the Omnium.
Far away, with a price almost half that of the Japanese machine, we find the UKSI-BC1 which rises to €64,350 used by the British team. A bike that is practically identical to the famous Hope HB.T that will also be used by the cyclists of the Great Britain team although this last one "barely" costs €29,188, located among the cheapest of the top bikes that we will find in the velodrome alongside, who would have thought, the Pinarello Bolide F HR C-3D of the Italian cycling team and which is manufactured using the 3D printing system Scamalloy using Scandium and Aluminum. A bike that derives directly from the model that the Italian brand created in its day for Filippo Ganna to break the hour record.
To all this we have to add the price of custom extensions for each cyclist, super rigid aerodynamic handlebars, wheels of different profiles and specific configurations, or clothing designed for better penetration in the air, as well as a long list of very expensive components and accessories that turn track cycling into the Formula 1 of cycling, where technology is almost as important as the cyclist's legs.
