More than €90,000 worth of bicycles stolen from the family of Chilean champion Martín Vidaurre
Martín Vidaurre, one of the great stars of current mountain biking, who this year won his first event of the XCO World Cup, is going through an unpleasant moment outside the circuits. His family has been the victim of a new robbery at their store Vidaurre Bikes, located in Chicureo (Chile), where a group of criminals took away nearly twenty high-end bicycles valued at around 100 million Chilean pesos, equivalent to more than €90,000.

The assault occurred on Sunday night, when three individuals accessed the back of the store after cutting a metal shutter and knocking down a wall. According to Cristóbal Vidaurre, the champion's father and business owner, the thieves took bicycles from the Specialized brand, many of which belonged to cyclists that the store supports or who had left their bikes for maintenance.

“We try to support several athletes, not just Martín and Catalina. There were bicycles from kids who compete and also from customers. It is very frustrating,” explained Cristóbal Vidaurre to local media.

This is the third robbery the family has suffered in less than a year, despite having reinforced security measures. “We no longer know what to do. This issue of crime exceeds any limit,” lamented the father of the cyclist, highlighting the impact that such events have on those who work to promote the sport in their country.
