The bicycle sector in Spain enters a phase of maturity after years of strong growth following the pandemic. The data from 2025 confirms a slight correction in business volume, but also shows a solid foundation that keeps the sector as one of the economic engines linked to sports, leisure, and mobility.

The sector enters a phase of balance after the post-pandemic adjustment with a greater emphasis on high-end ranges

According to the latest sector report presented by AMBE together with Cofidis, revenue reached 2.177 billion euros, which represents a moderate decrease compared to the previous year. However, the drop in units sold is practically negligible, with just over one million bicycles sold and a minimal reduction. This behavior points to a change in consumption trends, where the average value is increasing despite the stabilization of volume.

The increase in average price to over 1,280 euros clearly reflects this shift towards higher ranges. In this scenario, electric bicycles continue to gain prominence and now represent a key part of the business. Their significance is not only relevant in terms of units but their impact on revenue is even greater, consolidating them as the main economic driver of the sector. In urban areas, their adoption is even more evident, with a clear majority among bicycles intended for daily mobility.

Regarding types, the market maintains a very defined structure. Mountain biking remains the main pillar in terms of value, while road cycling continues to have a very prominent presence, driven by sports use. Within this category, gravel bikes continue to grow and establish themselves as one of the clearest trends in the current market, with a gradual diversification also towards electric versions. Behind them, urban mobility and the children's segment maintain a more reduced, albeit stable, role.

Beyond complete bicycles, the behavior of the accessories and components market confirms the weight of recurrent use and maintenance. Technical clothing and glasses stand out in revenue, while items such as transmissions, brakes, or tires lead in turnover, evidencing a constant demand linked to intensive bicycle use.

The commercial network remains practically unchanged, with just under three thousand points of sale spread across the territory. In parallel, the importance of associated services such as workshops or rentals is growing, reflecting an evolution of the business towards a more diversified model that is less solely dependent on direct sales.

Employment remains stable at around 25,000 jobs, reinforcing the sector's role as a generator of sustained economic activity. This is complemented by the growing weight of internationalization, with companies that already generate a significant part of their revenue outside of Spain, providing stability and adaptability to changes in the domestic market.

After several years marked by adjustments in the supply chain and demand, the sector seems to be moving towards a more predictable scenario. The moderation in the decline of revenues and the stability in sales allow companies to plan for the medium term with greater security. All this in a context where the bicycle continues to gain social relevance, both as a tool for leisure and sport and in its role within sustainable mobility.
