Michelin lands on the soles of road cycling shoes in partnership with Ekoi with the Pro Team C12. The model has followed an innovative manufacturing process that has increased lightness by avoiding the use of screws. The shoes weigh 240 grams, are available in twelve sizes, and the price is around 282 euros.

The Pro Team C12 shoes: Michelin makes a grand debut in road soles

Michelin expands its catalog and, after experience in various MTB disciplines, now focuses its interest on road shoe soles. Entering this new world makes it the first road tire manufacturer to also offer soles. The debut has been made hand in hand with JV International - a brand that has the license for the design, production, and commercialization of the French firm's soles. All this in partnership with Ekoi and their Pro Team C12 model.

The Pro Team C12 are the new flagship of Ekoi's road competition shoe range. The development has lasted three years and has relied on the opinions of several professional cyclists. In fact, INEOS Grenadiers have already worn them during the Tour de Romandie and the Giro d'Italia.

The most important novelty of the sole is the manufacturing method used both in the toe and heel areas. The key is that they are co-molded, a new process developed by JV International and Ekoi that allows the elimination of some parts like screws and results in less weight on the scale.

The sole is entirely made of woven carbon, which provides high levels of stiffness and lightness, according to Ekoi. The heel pads are provided by Michelin and the manufacturer defines them as non-slip and durable.

Additionally, it comes with BOA system with Dual-Dial Li2, has a profile that avoids pressure points, a snug fit to the foot but with some space in the front, and features an Ortholite insole - with lycra mesh and open-cell PU foam. On the other hand, engineers have also focused their efforts on the inner arch of the shoe with the aim of reinforcing foot support.
