"Matthias is above all a cyclist": Canyon names new CEO to lead its global growth
Canyon has announced the appointment of Matthias Meier as the new CEO of the company, a move aimed at strengthening its global structure at a key moment for its evolution. The executive will take office starting May 1, 2026, and will work alongside the founder and executive chairman, Roman Arnold.
Matthias Meier joins Canyon as the new CEO from May 2026
Meier arrives at Canyon after more than twelve years at DT Swiss, where he held various positions of responsibility before becoming co-CEO. During that time, he led the company's commercial expansion through several international subsidiaries and participated in strategic projects within the industry, such as the collaboration with Continental and Swiss Side that resulted in the AERO 111 system.
His arrival at Canyon means taking full responsibility for the brand's global operations, its commercial development, and its long-term growth. This includes continuing to develop the direct-to-consumer sales model and strengthening the international service and experience network that the brand has been building over the past few years.

Meier himself made his vision clear from the start: “The hardest thing in this industry is to build a brand that cyclists truly believe in. Canyon has achieved that. My work starts from a position that most CEOs never reach, with a product that needs no justification and a brand that has never had to raise its voice. What it needs now is an operational and commercial structure that matches its ambition. That is what we are going to build.”
From the company, Roman Arnold emphasized the profile of the new CEO and what he can bring to this new stage: “Beyond his background and deep knowledge of the industry, Matthias is above all a cyclist. He has led DT Swiss with that unique combination, and we believe he is the right person to take Canyon into a new chapter.”
With this change in leadership, Canyon maintains its roadmap focused on sustained growth, technological development, and sports performance, without losing the direct connection with the cycling community. Meier's arrival points to a phase in which the brand wants to consolidate its global position by strengthening its structure without altering its identity.
