Mathis Azzaro, disqualified after finishing second in the XCO World Cup in Leogang
The XCO World Cup in Leogang left an important change in the standings hours after the finish. Mathis Azzaro (Origine Racing Division), who crossed the finish line in second place after battling for victory alongside Adrien Boichis and Luca Martin, was disqualified by the officials due to an infraction in the feeding zone.
The UCI disqualifies Mathis Azzaro for an infraction in the feeding zone
The French rider himself had already commented on the incident after finishing the race. According to him, he entered through an incorrect line in the area designated for feeding, an action that was ultimately penalized by the race jury with disqualification.
The circumstances were very strange because passing through the feeding zone did not harm any rival nor did it grant him any benefit. It seems to have been an error stemming from the tension of the race.

The sanction puts an end to a weekend in which Azzaro had once again shown himself to be one of the strongest riders in the World Cup. The Frenchman arrived in Leogang after winning the first two Short Tracks of the season and during the XCO was one of the main protagonists of the race, leading numerous attacks and staying in the fight for victory until the last kilometers.
The decision of the officials also modifies the final podium of the Austrian event. Luca Martin (Cannondale Factory Racing) moves up to second place, while Bjorn Riley (SCOTT-SRAM MTB Racing Team) takes the third spot.
