Loana Lecomte returns to the top in Canada and wins the XCO World Cup at Mont Sainte Anne
On one of the most iconic circuits of the World Cup, Mont Sainte Anne in Canada, the last opportunity of the year to achieve a great victory began.
After a first half of the race where a large number of favorites took turns at the front of the race, including Loana Lecomte, Laura Stigger, Sina Frei, Alessandra Keller, Rebecca Henderson, and Candice Lill. The French rider Loana Lecomte made sure to toughen up the race enough for her to stay alone at the front of the race alongside Austrian Laura Stigger.

Behind them, Swiss rider Sina Frei remained half a minute behind while Alessandra Keller was thinking about the overall classification more than 1 minute behind and accompanied by South African Candice Lill. Just behind them, outside the Top 5, rode together Jenny Rissveds, Steffi Haberlin, Bec Henderson, Evie Richards, and Savilia Blunk.
But the race was once again decided in the final lap. This time, Lecomte made sure her uphill attack was strong enough for Stigger not to catch her on the descent. And it worked. The French rider opened up a gap of more than 5" that allowed her to cross the finish line first with enough advantage to avoid a sprint finish. Laura Stigger finished second and Sina Frei third.
With this victory, Loana Lecomte ends the season with two wins in the XCO World Cup, Crans Montana and this one, and regains her form after a season focused heavily on the Olympics that didn't go as expected.
Swiss rider Alessandra Keller was the other big protagonist of the day. She finished in fifth place and secured the victory in the overall classification that she had practically wrapped up.
