Lidl keeps most of the Lidl-Trek
Just as it happened a few months ago with Decathlon-AG2R La Mondiale, Lidl has wanted to make the structure of the Lidl-Trek team their own, setting the guidelines and focus on both the sporting and commercial aspects. This change is consolidated after the supermarket chain acquired a majority stake.

The American team becomes more German and is now more Lidl than Trek
The headquarters of Lidl in the German town of Bad Wimpfen was the chosen setting for the team's first pre-season mini-concentration. It was just a first contact to prepare the work plan for the coming months.
This headquarters will also become the headquarters of Lidl-Trek after the German supermarket chain confirmed that it has increased its financial participation in the team, now holding a majority stake. This, in fact, raises the question of which federation it will be registered with, making the structure more German than American, although the sports structure remains the same.

However, Trek continues to be a co-owner of the team and, obviously, the supplier of the team's bikes. "Expanding the collaboration between Trek and Lidl is the perfect way to culminate an incredible road season for Lidl-Trek. Together, we have the resources, tools, and experience to take this team to the top of the sport," expressed Roger Gierhart, vice president of Trek.
In any case, this only consolidates the commitment with which Lidl entered cycling in 2023, turning the team into one of the best in the world in just two seasons, with riders like Jonathan Milan, Mads Pedersen, or Mathias Skjelmose, to whom the new signing of Juan Ayuso will be added in 2026, with the aim of taking a step forward in the fight for the Grand Tours.

This change in team ownership does not imply any modifications in the sporting aspect, which will continue to maintain the structure that has led to success, with Luca Guercilena as general manager and Stevenn de Jongh as his right-hand man in charge of sports management.
