Le Coq Sportif enters into bankruptcy proceedings
Hard times for Le Coq Sportif, a legendary brand in the sports textile industry whose image has been linked to the yellow jersey of the Tour de France for years. The French company lost 18.2 million euros during the first half of this year and is resorting to judicial administration in an attempt to save the situation and protect the jobs of its 330 direct employees.

Le Coq Sportif, a reference in sports textiles, on the brink of collapse
The French brand, one of the iconic French brands, bases much of its production on sports clothing and fashion sneakers. However, it holds a special place in the hearts of cyclists as, for many years during the 80s, it supplied the yellow jersey of the Tour de France, in fact, Perico Delgado wore the last one before Le Coq Sportif ended its partnership with the Tour. A sponsorship that returned in the middle of the past decade until, in 2022, it was taken over by Santini.

Le Coq Sportif has also been, during the last Olympic Games held in Paris, the supplier of the French Olympic Federation and, in the case of cyclists, they wore their garments to the medals, as in the case of Pauline Ferrand-Prévot in the XCO event, or Valentin Madouas and Christophe Laporte who supported Remco Evenepoel in the men's road race event.

A month ago, Airesis, the parent company of Le Coq Sportif, announced the financial difficulties the brand was facing and its intention to undergo judicial administration in a process that began last week. Now, this judicial administrator will be responsible for managing the assets and deciding how the company's debts are settled while it tries to find new investors to help it out of its delicate financial situation.
