Jenny Rissveds wins the Lenzerheide Short Track with a hard attack

The women's Short Track race has left us a very intense race that the Swedish Jenny Rissveds has managed to solve brilliantly with an intermediate attack.

The Lenzerheide Women's Short Track started in sunny weather on a very fast alpine course, with continuous entrances and exits from the forest that left the course very shaded.

The Ghost Factory Racing team took the lead during the first few corners with Denmark's Caroline Bohé and Anne Terpstra from the Netherlands in the lead. But soon a very large group formed at the front with no shortage of favorites.

Jolanda Neff, Jenny Rissveds, Alessandra Keller, Loana Lecomte or the World Champion, Sina Frei, were among those who led the group at some point in this 9-lap race.

The first serious change of pace came on lap 6, when Sweden's Jenny Rissveds stretched the leading group and managed to open a small gap to go solo.

Such attacks are not common in Short Track events, but Loana Lecomte won with a similar one in Leogang and Rissveds seemed ready to give it a try.

At the start of lap 8, Rissveds was already 11 seconds ahead of the chasing group led by Alessandra Keller and it only remained to see if the Team 31 rider could hold her breakaway to the finish line.

The group tried, but Rissveds' attack was solid enough that none of her rivals could catch her.

"I had no strategy but I saw myself faster than the rest. I decided I could attack," explained Rissveds after the race.
