Jennifer Jackson's XCO crutches, with ESI Grip handle and bottle holder for Lenzerheide
Jennifer Jackson has gone from fighting for the top spots in the World Cup to walking the paddock in Lenzerheide supported by crutches in just a few days. The Canadian from the Orbea Fox Factory Team suffered a patella fracture after a fall in Leogang that will keep her away from competition for an undetermined amount of time. However, she has traveled with the team to Switzerland and there she appeared with eye-catching crutches customized with the team's sponsors, ESI Grips grips, and even a bottle holder installed as if it were a real XC bike.

The Canadian XCO champion was going through one of her best forms of the season when fortune turned its back on her precisely on one of the circuits that had historically resisted her the most. The Austrian course, hardened by the rain that fell for much of the day, ended up taking the Orbea Fox Factory Team rider out of the race.
Jackson herself shared images of the accident on her social media. In them, you can see the exact moment of the fall that ended her race and ultimately caused her a patella fracture. The Canadian explained later that the accident may have been related to the accumulated exhaustion after an especially demanding race.

“Devastated to go from dominating my cursed race in Leogang to suffering an unfortunate fall at the end of the day, due to exhaustion, which has caused me a patella fracture. The physical pain is what it is, but the emotions are proving to be much harder to manage. Honestly, I think I was in the best shape to have some of the best races of my life during this competition block, and now those opportunities have disappeared… disappeared for now, I hope not forever,” wrote the rider.
The injury will force Jackson to stay away from competition for an undetermined amount of time. For now, there is no scheduled date for her return to the circuits.
Still, the Canadian has wanted to continue supporting the team at the next World Cup event and has traveled to Lenzerheide, where the XCC and XCO events will take place this weekend.
There, the staff of the Orbea Fox Factory Team has decided to customize her crutch as if it were a real competition bike. The crutches feature several stickers from the team's sponsors, incorporate characteristic ESI Grips grips, and, as a final touch, even have a bottle holder installed to carry the bottle she would normally have on her Orbea Oiz.
A touch of humor and personality in a difficult moment for the Canadian rider, who is now facing a recovery period with the goal of returning to competition as soon as possible.
Meanwhile, her “XC-ready” crutches have already become one of the most curious images in the Lenzerheide paddock.
