Jasper Philipsen gives himself a victory in Kuurne-Brussels-Kuurne for his birthday
Jasper Philipsen celebrated his birthday in style. The Belgian cyclist from Alpecin-Deceuninck, who turned 27 today, took the victory in the Kuurne-Brussels-Kuurne after an impressive sprint in which he beat Olav Kooij (Jumbo-Visma) and Hugo Hofstetter (Arkéa-Samsic).
Jasper Philipsen takes revenge and wins the Kuurne-Brussels-Kuurne 2025
This Belgian race of almost 200 kilometers with up to 13 ascents started with a breakaway of seven cyclists at 50 kilometers from the start. The breakaway, in which cyclists like Huub Artz from Intermarché-Wanty or Dries De Bondt from Decathlon AG2R stood out, took a lead of almost 5 minutes. But the peloton remained strong and it seemed that they would close that gap.
In fact, the peloton was the main protagonist of the day and also dismantled several subsequent breakaways, including one led by Van Aert, who showed much more strength than the previous day, alongside the Spanish rider Roger Adrià.

With 11 kilometers to go, everything started again and the teams began to position themselves for the final sprint. The Alpecin-Deceuninck train organized perfectly with Jonas Rickaert and Kaden Groves setting the stage for Philipsen to launch an unstoppable final acceleration.
Olav Kooij had to settle for second place and Hofstetter closed the podium.
Philipsen, who finished third yesterday in the Omloop Het Nieuwsblad, confirms with this victory his consistency at the start of the Belgian season and consolidates Alpecin-Deceuninck as one of the favorite teams in any sprint.
