The 2024 European Cyclocross Championship is held in Spain
Spain once again hosts some of the most important events in the Cyclocross Calendar. On January 19, the CX World Cup in Benidorm will take place, but before that, in just a few weeks, Galicia will be where the next European Champions are crowned.
Illa das Esculturas, in Pontevedra, on the banks of the Lérez River, will be the stage where the best cyclocross riders will compete in a competition that will also feature the master category for the first time.
The competition is expected to have the typical cold and humid weather characteristic of the area during this season. The course will feature obstacles such as a sandbank, three bridges, and planks for the delight of the attending audience. In total, 3350 meters of a counterclockwise circuit, very fast, where cyclists will reach high speeds but will also have to overcome the obstacles presented by the course.
The event, under the auspices of the Union Européenne de Cyclisme (UEC), is organized by the Galician Cycling Federation with the support of the Pontevedra City Council, the Pontevedra Provincial Council, and the Xunta de Galicia.
