Hammerhead updates its new Karoo and increases the battery to over 35 hours
Since SRAM acquired the cycle computer company Hammerhead in 2021, the brand has received a significant boost that has placed its devices on par with market leaders. Now, the Karoo receives an important update that addresses the main weakness of this cycle computer.
No more stress about the battery life of the Hammerhead Karoo
Earlier this year, Hammerhead launched the new Karoo, the first evolution of this device after the brand was acquired by SRAM and the third generation following the original Karoo and the Karoo 2 that followed a couple of years later.
A cycle computer that quickly won the favor of cyclists thanks to its high-resolution 3.2-inch touchscreen equipped with Gorilla Glass or its powerful processor that provides incredibly smooth operation and tremendous navigation capabilities.

However, so much power had a weak point, the battery life which, in real use, fell short of the 15 hours originally claimed by Hammerhead, which could be insufficient for many users, especially those more adventurous who make intensive use of navigation functions.
Now, Hammerhead claims to have extended the Karoo's autonomy to over 35 hours through a software update that better manages the device's energy by optimizing its performance.
An update that is now available to all Hammerhead Karoo users and offers the option to choose between three power profiles, with the most conservative option providing the mentioned 35 hours of autonomy.
This energy saving is achieved by acting on different parameters such as screen brightness, automatic shutdown configuration, or processing speed. In this way, we have the default mode, which maintains the same profile as the original Karoo, offering 15 hours of battery life.
The battery saving mode achieves 30 hours of autonomy, activating the screen-off option that automatically reactivates to alert us when we reach a turn or any other notification needs to be displayed. Additionally, in this mode, the screen brightness is limited to 45%.
Finally, there is an advanced battery saving mode that includes reducing the processor speed and achieves the maximum duration of 35 hours.
