The CX World Cup reaches its halfway point with the race in Gavere on Thursday, November 26, which for the third consecutive year is part of the International Cycling Union's competition. It will be the seventh race of the calendar, the sixth to take place after the cancellation of Cabras due to strong winds that hit Sardinia during the second weekend of this December. This time, the forecast is that Mathieu van der Poel will be the one to watch.

As with the other major winter races, Eurosport will once again broadcast the Gavere World Cup live. Two options to not miss any of the action: the traditional channel or follow the race without commercials through the MAX app if you have the sports add-on.

Third goal on the world champion's calendar

Unbeatable in his first two races of the season, both in Zonhoven in the World Cup and in Mol in the Superprestige, Van der Poel reaches his third goal of the year on a very physical course, marked by demanding climbs, technical sections where he can make a difference, and above all, its legendary muddy sections that become more challenging depending on the amount of rain that has fallen in the days and hours leading up to the race.

100% authentic cyclocross for a World Cup race in which the Alpecin-Deceuninck Belgian has demonstrated his superiority in the previous two editions, beating Wout van Aert in both races by a comfortable margin of half a minute.

Excitement in the overall World Cup standings

Winner in Dublin and Namur, Michael Vanthourenhout (140) enters the second half of the World Cup with a slight 22-point lead over his compatriot Toon Aerts. Third is also Belgian Eli Iserbyt (102) and fourth is Dutchman Pim Ronhaar (101).

Far behind, with only 40 points from his victory in Zonhoven, is a Van der Poel who doesn't seem like a threat to the contenders for the overall title, especially considering that he won't complete the entire race program, but who could continue to climb positions if he maintains his winning streak.

Despite his poor performance in Zonhoven, Spanish rider Felipe Orts remains in eighth in the overall World Cup standings, very close to the third spot, boosted by his podium finishes in both Dublin and Hulst. The Ridley team rider hopes to extend his impressive winter with a strong performance on a course that has been challenging for him so far.
